About this Show
Born in London in 1903, Bob Hope came to the United States as a child and worked through vaudeville to Broadway success. The Pepsodent Show launched September 27, 1938, and within three years had achieved a Hooperating of 40.9 — making it one of the most listened-to programs in broadcast history. Hope's partnership with the military began immediately after Pearl Harbor. He took his radio company on the first of dozens of overseas tours in 1942. Hope's writing staff at peak employed over a dozen writers simultaneously.
