Accessibility

Our Commitment

Vintage Radio Vault is built for listeners of every ability. Radio was the original accessible medium — no screen required — and we want the archive that preserves it to live up to that standard. We are working to make every part of the site perceivable, operable, and understandable for all visitors, including those who use assistive technology.

What We Do

We build the site with semantic HTML — headings, landmarks, labels, and descriptive link text — so screen readers can navigate it, and we aim for every control to be reachable and operable by keyboard, with readable contrast and resizable text. We aim for WCAG 2.1 AA but have not yet had the site independently audited.

Known Limitations

Our collection includes a very large archive of historical audio recordings. Transcripts are available for a growing portion of the archive but not yet for every episode — transcribing tens of thousands of recordings is ongoing work. Some historical artwork and scanned material may also carry limited alternative text. Our own review has also found places where text contrast is too low, where some buttons lack a visible keyboard focus indicator, and where parts of the layout do not yet adapt well to small screens; fixes for these are in progress. We are improving coverage over time.

Tell Us What Needs Fixing

If you hit a barrier anywhere on the site — a control you can't reach, a page that misbehaves with your screen reader, missing transcripts you need — please let us know via our contact page. Accessibility reports go to the top of the queue.
