About this Show
The Green Hornet premiered January 31, 1936, on WXYZ Detroit. Created by George Trendle and primarily written by Fran Striker, the show expanded to Mutual in 1938 and then to NBC Blue (later ABC) in 1939. The Green Hornet was voiced by Al Hodge (1936–1943) and Robert Hall (1944–1952). Kato was initially described as Japanese; after Pearl Harbor in December 1941, the character was quickly redesignated as Filipino — a change made within weeks of the attack. The Green Hornet and The Lone Ranger share the same fictional universe — Britt Reid is established as the grandnephew of John Reid, the Lone Ranger.
