About this Show
Created by writer Al Lewis and produced by Larry Berns, Our Miss Brooks premiered on CBS on July 19, 1948. Colgate-Palmolive sponsored the program for its entire radio run — one of the longest uninterrupted sponsorships in network radio history. Eve Arden was the third choice for the lead role (Harry Ackerman originally wanted Shirley Booth), but made the character so thoroughly her own that it became impossible to imagine anyone else. Richard Crenna played teenage student Walter Denton. The television adaptation launched in 1952 and ran through 1956, with the same core cast.
