About this Show
Phil Harris had been Jack Benny's orchestra leader on The Jack Benny Program since 1936, playing a dim-witted, hard-drinking good-time Charlie. When Harris married screen idol Alice Faye in 1941, NBC brought them together for their own show in 1946. The series picked up Harris's established character and built a domestic comedy around it, with Faye playing the long-suffering but witty wife. Regular characters included Frank Remley, Harris's boozy guitar player, and the couple's two daughters. The show ran through 1954 and was remembered for its relaxed, improvisational feel.
