About this Show
The Mysterious Traveler premiered on the Mutual Broadcasting System on December 5, 1943, and ran until September 2, 1952. Creators Robert Arthur and David Kogan had worked extensively in pulp fiction before moving to radio. Maurice Tarplin voiced the Traveler throughout the run, creating one of radio's most recognizable character voices. The show's 370 episodes included scripts across mystery, horror, crime, and science fiction. Tragically, only approximately 70 of the 370 episodes survive — a survival rate of less than 20%.
