About this Show

Produced in 1951 by Harry Alan Towers for BBC transcription and Mutual Broadcasting, The Black Museum starred Orson Welles as host and narrator. Each of the 52 episodes was framed around a real object from Scotland Yard's criminal evidence collection, giving the show an authentic true-crime feel unusual for the era. Welles's narration was characteristically compelling, and the production values were high. The show ran in syndication in both the UK and US.
