About this Show
Quiet Please debuted June 8, 1947, on the Mutual Broadcasting System and moved to ABC in September 1948, where it continued until June 20, 1949. Wyllis Cooper wrote all 106 episodes himself — an extraordinary creative achievement. Each episode required meticulous research; Chappell's characters were railroad engineers, archaeologists, mountain climbers, and soldiers, described with technical detail that grounded even the most supernatural material. The show ended not because of poor ratings but because of a dispute between Cooper and ABC over creative control. Nearly all 106 episodes survive.
