Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar premiered February 18, 1949, on CBS. The character went through six actors: Charles Russell, Edmond O'Brien, John Lund, Bob Bailey (from October 1955 in the five-nights-a-week serialized format), Bob Readick, and Mandel Kramer. Bailey's era coincided with the show's shift to a serial format — fifteen minutes per night, Monday through Friday, with each week telling a single complex case. The final episode, 'The Tip-Off Matter,' aired September 30, 1962 — back-to-back with Suspense's final episode in a deliberate double farewell to network radio drama.
