About this Show
The Adventures of Superman debuted as a transcribed syndicated series on WOR New York on February 12, 1940. The origin story was presented in full — Krypton, Jor-El, the rocket, the Kents, and Clark's journey to the Daily Planet. The series aired three 15-minute episodes weekly before moving to Mutual on August 31, 1942. On Mutual, it became a five-days-a-week serial with Kellogg's Pep as sponsor. The show ended March 1, 1951, as television beckoned. The Adventures of Superman TV series launched in 1952 with George Reeves.
