About this Show
Roy Rogers (born Leonard Franklin Slye in 1911 in Cincinnati) had risen through the Sons of the Pioneers to become Republic Pictures' singing cowboy star. The radio show premiered November 21, 1944, on Mutual, with Gabby Hayes as Rogers's comedic sidekick. Dale Evans became increasingly central to both the show and his public image. When Pat Brady replaced Gabby Hayes in 1951, the show had moved to NBC. The Roy Rogers television show (NBC, 1951–1957) ran concurrently for several years.
