About this Show
Space Patrol premiered on television on March 13, 1950, on ABC's Los Angeles affiliate, and the radio version followed on October 4, 1952. The dual-platform approach was innovative and commercially shrewd: ABC promoted both versions simultaneously, and the shared creative team ensured consistency. The radio version produced 129 half-hour episodes from 1952 to 1955. The show pioneered the 'Junior Astronaut' premium club with decoder badges, space helmets, and rocket ships sold through cereal and food sponsors.
