About this Show
Tom Mix (1880–1940) was one of the great stars of silent and early sound Westerns. Ralston-Purina obtained his licensing agreement in 1933, and the show premiered September 25, 1933. After two seasons the production moved to Chicago. Tom Mix died in a car accident near Florence, Arizona, on October 12, 1940. The show continued without announcement of his death for several weeks before the cast was reshuffled. The show ran until June 1950. Ralston-Purina's 'Straight Shooters' premium club became one of the most successful marketing programs in radio history.
