Fred Allen

Fred Allen was one of the most celebrated comedians in American radio history, known for his caustic wit, literary intelligence, and disdain for the broadcasting establishment. Born John Florence Sullivan in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Allen developed his acerbic style in vaudeville before conquering radio with his long-running variety show. His Allen's Alley segment and legendary feud with Jack Benny made him a weekly institution for American listeners.
