About this Show
Born Angus Young in Birmingham, England, Alan Young emigrated to Canada and then the US, where his radio career took off in the early 1940s. His NBC show premiered in 1944 and ran through multiple formats, winning the Peabody Award in 1948. Young's character — young, optimistic, slightly hapless — resonated with postwar American audiences. He later starred in the early television series The Alan Young Show (1950–53) and is best remembered today for playing Wilbur Post in the TV series Mister Ed.
