About this Show
Beyond Tomorrow was developed by CBS in the spring of 1950 as the network's first science fiction series. An audition show, 'The Outer Limit,' was recorded on February 23, 1950, under the working title Beyond This World.
Three more programs were transcribed in April 1950: Robert A. Heinlein's 'Requiem,' Theodore Sturgeon's 'Incident at Switchpath (The Sky Was Full of Ships),' and a second version of 'The Outer Limit.' Graham Doar's 'The Outer Limit' went on to be produced by Escape, Dimension X, Suspense and X Minus One.
The series was announced in newspapers, but it is not known whether any episode was actually broadcast, and it went no further.
Only four recordings exist, a small glimpse of radio science fiction just as the genre took off.
