About this Show

Exploring Tomorrow ran on the Mutual Broadcasting System from December 4, 1957, to June 13, 1958. Its narrator was John W. Campbell, editor of Astounding Science Fiction, who also served as host, commentator and script editor.

An advertisement promised 'the first science-fiction show of science-fictioneers, by science-fictioneers and for science-fictioneers – real science fiction for a change!' Each episode carried Campbell's reflections on the cultural, psychological or sociological side of that night's idea.

Stories came from writers including Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick, Poul Anderson, Gordon R. Dickson, Randall Garrett, Robert Silverberg, Tom Godwin and George O. Smith. New York actors Mandel Kramer, Lon Clark, Mason Adams, Larry Haines, Bret Morrison and Bryna Raeburn filled the casts.

It is the one chance to hear science fiction's most influential editor argue for his ideas on the air.
