About this Show
Fort Laramie aired on CBS from January 22 to October 28, 1956, on Sunday afternoons, for 41 episodes. Norman Macdonnell, the producer-director of Gunsmoke, produced and directed it.
Raymond Burr starred as Captain Lee Quince, commanding cavalry at the 19th-century frontier post in what is now Wyoming. The series shared writers, sound-effects men and many actors with Gunsmoke.
Kathleen Hite wrote 27 of the episodes, John Dunkel five, John Meston four and Les Crutchfield two.
Burr, a year before Perry Mason, gives the show real authority, and it is a natural next stop for Gunsmoke fans.
