About this Show
Man Called X was one of radio's pioneering espionage programs, airing on CBS, NBC, and the Blue Network from 1944 to 1952. Agent Ken Thurston took on dangerous assignments across the world during WWII and the early Cold War.
The distinguished Herbert Marshall brought sophistication and intrigue to the lead role, perfectly embodying the cool-under-pressure intelligence agent navigating exotic foreign locations. The series featured realistic settings, sophisticated plots, and the kind of international intrigue that would later become the backbone of spy fiction.
Created during the era of real-world espionage and global conflict, the show capitalized on audience fascination with secret agents and international intrigue, predating James Bond by over a decade.
